This is a more detailed list of acknowledgments. ------------------------------------------------ September 9, 1999 Whitney Colella, a mechanical engineering graduate from Princeton University, is to be thanked for her original work on small fuel cell vehicles for Asia; her undergraduate thesis on fuel cell bicycles for Asia was the launching point for this work. Arne Laven of the Desert Research Institute provided important practical information on fuel cell design and metal hydride integration, among many other things, and is working on a scooter project closely related to this one. Arne Jacobson from the Energy and Resources Group at Berkeley had small-fuel cell vehicle experience which was invaluable. The information specific to the Taiwan electric scooter came in part from Ling-yuan Tseng and T. C. Pong, who worked in that particular industry. Ideas for fuel cell stack design for the low price point called for here were developed with input from Frank Lomax of Directed Technologies, Inc., a major contributor in the fuel cell vehicle technological assessment area. Michael Le of NASA's Johnson Space Center provided information and ballpark figures on the state of the art of fuel cell systems Dr. Srinivasan Supramniam of Princeton University taught me the majority of what I know about fuel cells today, while Dr. Tom Kreutz provided important criticism and helped with the vehicle modeling. I owe all these people - and those who I have accidentally forgotten to mention here - a debt of thanks.
